“What happens after the big declutter?”

When we think about decluttering, and especially while we are at it, we tend to think about what we are about to eject from our lives. Maybe there is benefit in reminding yourself of the reason why you are doing it in the first place.

That reason, almost always, is that we want to move on.

When you think about clutter, what do you see?

I bet it is an image inspired by ‘hoarding’ type programs on TV, an old lady’s house full of her life’s memorabilia or some guy’s room full of video game collectibles, right? The one thing that will likely not come up is your own home…

There is no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to decluttering. Everyone who has ever tried to do a last minute declutter will most likely have run into that particular wall. It seems that we are better collectors than ‘letter-goers’ – the fact alone that there does not seem to be a proper word for that activity speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

So how can we tip that balance from accumulating to downsizing?
